Time flies

I'M DONE!! I am officially finished with swimming. There have been a lot of mixed feelings going into this in the past year, but I know I am ready and I am glad about my overall decision. I am going to miss the sport eventually and I know I will be back in the water one of these days, but it will probably be a while before I am ready. I have been feeling a little sad, I've been doing it for so long, but right now I couldn't be more excited. This team just wasn't working out for me. Goodbye swimming, we had a good 17 or so years together!

Besides that nothing else going on really, just getting ready for the end of the semester and to cram for finals...we'll see how that goes.

I just felt like expressing my feelings real quick and now it is time to celebrate! I will write more later.

PEACE.

Heavy head

I have decided to write myself to sleep tonight. I sure hope it works because nothing else seems to do the trick.

Besides the fact that my stomach is making noises that sound like they are coming from my arm, I am doing just dandy. Well maybe not dandy, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed. There is a shitload of stuff to do over the next two weeks, and I am going to have a pull a miracle out of my ass to get myself out of this 15 foot hole I dug for myself. Not a comfortable hole to be in at all. Especially when my mom is going to want to fill it while I'm still in there when she finds out my grades. But since this is no longer high school and I am now a mature and well respected college student I think I can find a way to be responsible and hide my grades as long as possible from my mom. I am going to be a great adult.

Ok, now it is time for a little narrative. It shall be titled "Jessica's fall break" (I know not creative at all, but I figured Jessica's time away from the doomed and fiery wrath of hell was a little dramatic):

The school bell rang late Friday afternoon and Jessica threw her papers and shouted for joy as she ran all the way home to eat homemade cookies, hot cocoa and spiced ginger cake.

Haha, just kidding of course.

I don't even remember what I did on Friday. O wait, it's coming back. I decided with my excellent grades and all I would give myself the day off in two of my classes. I slept in because I saw the wonderful Harry Potter the night before (I know I already talked about this a little...) and Kristin and I ventured to the wonderful student center where we dined quite nicely with Panda Express. Then there was practice and a Friday night movie and all that stuff...cleaning Saturday and the Sat night movie and all that stuff...Sunday Lauren and I went shopping and had a nice long chat at Noodles and Company afterwards which was really good. Then I came home and did nothing... I think.

Ok so this writing myself to sleep is pretty much working. I have officially bored myself to sleep. But I must continue on with my story. I apologize to my readers, this must be awful. Ok switching story mode to third person.

Jessica began her official fall break on Monday afternoon with an invigorating swim practice at Moby arena. Who knows what else she did. After all, according to her father she is lazy and is probably going to get fat.

Tues she woke up and ate and thought about homework, yet did not get to it before her and her roommate headed up to the most exciting place of all time:
Wyoming.
Where she swam in two incredible C and B relays and then rode the bus back home after pizza hut.

She began Wednesday morning with a lovely swim practice at the student recreation center pool, which she has learned to loathe. Then her and Lauren drove back to Denver for the beginning of the REAL break. Jessica went to lunch with her youngest brother and then sat around until her buddy Kristin came over and they hung out, ate and later met up with other various people for a late night movie called Rent. Good acting, good singing, just three hours of her life she will never get back.

Thursday of course was turkey day where she went to her aunt's house and hung out with the family. There she participated in a ping pong tournament, ate everything in sight, took a walk, took a few drives with the cousins, watched part of a dollar game and part of a movie, and bonded with the family.
Needless to say she was quite tuckered from a long day of eating and sitting around, so she ended her day by watching a movie with her brother.

Friday was a day that will always be remembered: Jessica went to the library over break! Mark it down in history!
Then a nice dinner was had with her great and loyal friend Ashley. Later she was visited by her friend Ryan and later her friend Alex.

Ok I'm sick of third person. Switching back.
Saturday I went and swam with Lauren for a bit, then had lunch with my brother and Alex, then got my haircut (with my moral supporter, Lauren), then went shopping with my grandma, then to coffee with Chris, then to IHOP with Ryan after he helped me with some homework.
Sunday I just sat around until Lauren and I headed back to the fort.

So that's it folks. I am pretty much bored to tears. It's pretty painful to write, I can't imagine how it would be to read.

I had more I wanted to say, but I can't take the torture of this horrendous writing any longer so I will make it as brief as possible.

Announcements:
No more lifting at 6 am ever again!
Possibly wearing a fast skin at my last meet
I hope to pick up running in the near future
Katie's fish got caught in the filter and died the next day
Both of Jen's fish froze to death since our house was 40 degrees last week
IPOD is my big Christmas wish this year
I can't fall asleep unless my feet are warm

That's all the announcements for now. Now what we've all been waiting for...COUNTDOWN!

4 more days of swimming left...ever
9 days until finals
18 days until break!
1 month and three weeks till the big 2-0

Don't hold me to those exact numbers, I counted them really fast in my head. And now I am going to finally go to bed. This is a good bedtime exercise, I should do this more often. Or maybe not, that would just kill us all.
Goodnight finally.

It's about time

Hot cocoa, marshmellows, a warm blanket, a good movie, good friends and a hot guy. Those are all the things I could use right now. I just feel like cuddling up and watching a good ol' flick. But there is always a millions things to do and usually no time to do it. Yet today is that time where I need to do all of those things I've been putting off all week. And I feel pretty productive, I must say. Here are the things I have done:
-Dishes
-Clean my bathroom sink and counter
-Clean off my desk and dresser
-Laundry (towels, sheets, dishtowels, slip cover, clothes)
-Vaccum everything
-Pick up my room
-Clean kitchen
-Call my parents
-Sleep in

The last one is key since I've been sick. I opted (sp?) out on swim practice this morning in hopes that getting a good night's rest would once again make me strong and invinsible. I do feel much better, but I think a nap might be in order for later. Although that is doubtful since I'm not too big on napping. We shall see.

Other news in the fablous life of Jessica: IT'S FALL BREAK! Finally. And even though I have homework that will take me all week if I wanted to do it, it's nice not to have to worry about school. But there is a downfall to this wonderful news, I have to stay in the Fort until Wednesday because of the dreadful sport we like to call swimming. We have a meet in Wyoming on Tuesday so we have to stay here and practice until then. The whole situtaion annoys me greatly. But at least I am home for turkey day! Mmmm. Other good news is that Lauren's parents are bringing her car up here so we can have transportation for the four extra days we are here (since our roommates with the cars have long since flown off to their homelands).

I don't have any big plans for the break. Tonight Lauren and I have to volunteer to hand out programs at the basketball or volleyball game or whatever sport it is. I would rather read Shakespeare and eat worms. But it must be done I guess. For the good of that wonderful team I love so very much. The team that I think I will be leaving after this year. I'm sure they will hold a giant retirement party for me and bid me good luck in all my endevors. I know I will be missed and they probably won't win anymore meets without their star swimmer. What a terrible shame. Ha.

Besides that I am just sitting here feeling jealous of all the people who are in tropical climates soaking up the rays and living it up. BOO.

Last week was the weirdest week ever. I went home on Tuesday to observe my mom in her classroom for a class I have, and that was interesting. I thought the kids were cute, but I got tired. I admire my mom so much for doing that everyday. It looks like a lot of work, and now I know why she got teacher of the year. After that I hung out with my brothers and we went to the cousin's for Hill's birthday and had a feast of Chinese food! It was most excellent. And of course we were our goofy selves and had a grand old time consiting of raves, freeze with the lights, wreasling, reading people's text messages to the whole family, and the utter chaos all around. The usual. It was good to see everyone again, it's been a while. And of course I get to see them again next week for our even more wonderful feast!

Other than that, school was death like always and swimming was a lighter version of hell since we're on taper. But still no fun. Thursday night at midnight we went to go see HARRY POTTER! It was a jolly good show, I really liked it and I think they did a pretty good job of getting the main jist of the overall plot. Last night my good buddy Kristin came over and we watched "Butterfly Effect", which was weird and made me feel mental, but pretty good. It sparked a pretty intense conversation afterwards, which I can always count on with Kristin. She always keeps me on my toes! Ok, well I'm going to go do some more laundry and find something to eat. Happy fall break!

Count down:
Days until Wyoming: 3
Days until I get to go home: 4
Days until turkey day: 5
Days until haircut: 7

That's all for now! Hasta.

Global Guts!

Tonight the decision was between reading or writing. And lucky for you I chose writing. No worries, the book I was debating whether or not to read was not for school. If that were the case I would have just gone to bed. Hah, reading for school. Such a funny joke.

Alas, I did do some work tonight. Some might not think that watching a 2 and a half hour movie is work, but I sure do. Especially when you have your 20 pound Shakespeare book next to you and you are trying to follow along with the lines. It proves to be quite tiring. It was a good/really weird/gross movie, which is exactly how the play went. I think that good old William was on some major drugs when he wrote this one. Either that or he is just psychotic. Who will ever know.

Well this week has been barely creeping along, and then I found out some news that will make it seem even slower. We have to do freshman inniation on Friday. Now you might be thinking, well that sounds cool, you get to harass freshman all night. And I say, no, it does not sound cool at all. And I will tell you why. First of all I do not enjoy harassing others unless it's my brothers. I just would rather not. Secondly I had plans on Friday to go bowling. Yeah, I know I am awful at bowling, and usually after I go I wonder why I wanted to go so bad in the first place, but this time I was really excited. The only thing I knew was that Lauren, Katie, Jen and I were going to go and whoever else could come with. Lucky them. But now who knows where the night will lead us with this innation hupla. If it's anything like last year it will leave me wondering what the hell that was supposed to be. Oh well at least I got the most hilarious picture out of it. I don't know what happened to it, but it was fucking funny.

BUT...Saturday is our last home game and if the Rams win, we get to go to a bowl game! So I am keeping my fingers crossed and I am going to go cheer my little heart out. And this time I really will cheer loud. No holding back. I'm sure it will be easier after we've been chocking down grandpa's old cough medicine before hand.

Well I thought I had something more profound and enlightening to say, but once again I just blabbed away about nothingness. Ha, last night we watched Global Guts! It was awesome. Brings me back. I wish I could win a part of the Agro Cragg. Damn, that would be sweet. Tonight was Double Dare. I hope they have Wild and Crazy Kids sometime soon. That was also high quality TV if I ever saw it. Alright, I have to get up in like four hours and I have a meet tomorrow. Those three 50s are gonna be a dousy, so I better rest up for them. Ha. Three 50s. Pathetic.

My appologies for no new pictures, I haven't been around anyone with a digital camera and I haven't done anything very exciting for a while. Those New Mexico ones should be amazing...especially the one I took of the pool, it was about the most exciting thing there. Next to those sculpture people that I enjoyed posing with. Ok I'm tired, bedtime. Night.

What did you learn in school today?

Ok, well I should be reading, but I am going to warm up my brain with a quick write in here. Well the weekend was pretty good, it went by fast, I'm glad to be back in the Fort, but I am wish I was at home. I think it's that time of the year where everyone starts to feel a little homesick. But I have two weeks and a few days before I can go home, so I'm ready for that.

I swam ok, it was a long weekend, the hotel beds were hard as rock and so was the bus floor. To be expected. It was fun though, New Mexico is pretty boring and I wouldn't want to go to that school if you paid me. It's worse than Greeley. That bad. It was fun to hang out with the girls, I don't think I really took the meet that seriously, I was just kinda going with the flow, not thinking about it too much. Which describes how I swam. Next time I need to just get out there and race, no more of this swimming to get it done shit.

Well it's been much too long since I have written any sort of list so I think it's time.

Learned remedies for October '05:

1. Don't talk on the phone for two hours the day before a big test and still think that you are going to do well

2.When the teachers assigns you reading they aren't joking about it, it's a good idea to read.

3. It's hard work being a pirate. Especially when a fairy breaks your sword and then you are defenseless.

4. It's not a good idea to have your phone when you have been indulging in too many festivities on Halloween night, because then you might call the same person not once, not twice but three times. Uhhh.

5. Sleeping on a hotel bed and on a bus floor are almost the same amount of discomfort, except the bus floor had more of an old pizza smell and the bed felt more like a big block of cement feeling.

6. Although it's assumed that everyone can do handstands, that's a false fact. Some people have trouble and do a donkey kick in the air, flailing their legs everywhere.

5. Even though pillows look soft and inviting, if they are left on the ground and people are running through your house they can be very dangerous and cause them to fall face first. Karma's a bitch. Haha.

6. Doing push-ups, handstands, the worm and arebics dancing can be extremely tiring.

7. Taboo and Margarittas is a good combo, especially when you dominate at it.

8. Coffee makes my muscles tired.

9. Swimming for two days straight after sleeping on concrete also makes my muscles tired.

10. Ice cold water being poured down your shirt is well...ice cold.

11. Drinking beer that tastes like garage floor is an experience in itself. Needless to say that we found something a little more tastful after that.

12. No matter how long you have been swimming, you can still slip on the starting block and bruise your foot.

13. Procrastination gets you no where.

14. Not having a car will start to take it's toll on your sanity after about three months.

15. Digging your bike out of a pile of leaves can prove to be quite the task.

16. It's not very funny when you think your garbage bin blew away in the wind storm of '05.

17. Believe it or not a 140 pound dog can fit through a 1 foot hole in the fence.

18. Facebook is the spawn of satan.

19. So is class.

20. Giant space heaters are known to send death rays and cause headaches as well as burn or give your skin a rash, even when you are standing a safe distance away. At least that's what I have gathered.

Ok, that's about all I have learned. I need to go read now, yay for Shakespeare. What would our lives be without him? Blissful I'm sure. I'm out for now.

Count down:
Days until UNC meet: 4
Days until the weekend: 5
Days until last home football game: 6
Days until Wyoming meet: 16
Days until i get to go home for Turkey day: 17!

That's all for now. God Bless.
