Inspiration!

Dang, it's been a long time. I got sick of posting pictures all the time, even though I do have some good ones I did want to post. But it's all the same group of people in just about everyone, so I guess it doesn't matter that we are wearing different outfits. But I can't even post anymore anyway because my camera broke. And little Kody (short for Kodak--I just made that up) was only one year old. Maybe he can be revived, but until then he shall rest in peace:(

Well life has been interesting as of late, nothing completely out of the ordinary, but interesting nonetheless. Being 21 is just as wonderful as I have always imagined, yet it is going to make me more broke than I could have ever imagined so I'm going to take it easy for a while. My b-day and post b-day celebrations are out of my system so now I can just lay low. There's been a little trouble on the home front, and things were shaky for a while, but they are as good as can be expected. But I should say my expectations aren't very high. Life gets crazy really fast sometimes and when you're getting hit from both sides you learn to roll with the punches. Hopefully things will eventually clear up and stay that way. But I'm not complaining, I'm pretty much as happy as can be. Aside from waking up at 6:45 two days a week, life is pretty good. Although if I'm sure it wouldn't be as good if I was doing all the homework I'm supposed to be doing. I found this quote and it didn't say who it was, but I think it's Baz Lurhman from that sunscreen song. I think this is my creed. Well, some of it at least.

"As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken, probably more than once, and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend and you might even fall in love with him. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing so fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too hard, and love like you've never been hurt, because every minute you spend mad or upset is a minute of happiness that you'll never get back..."

I love that. It sums up a lot of my philosophy. Along with Tom Petty's quote. Let me see if I can find that. Ok found it.
“You have four years to be irresponsible here. Relax. Work is for people with jobs. You'll never remember class time, but you'll remember time you wasted hanging out with your friends. So, stay out late. Go out on a Tuesday with your friends when you have a paper due Wednesday. Spend money you don't have. Drink 'til sunrise. The work never ends, but college does..."”

I think this one and the other one combined is a lot of what I truly believe. And I live up to them everyday. I think life is too short to be mad, sad, or frustrated all the time. I think holding grudges is a waste of energy and if anything my friends have taught me so much about what a true friendship is and how to live life. They have taught me how to be patient, how to stand up for myself, how to laugh at random things, how to be excited for just about anything, how to be selfless, how to cook food, how to dance, how to look at the beauty in everything, how to take risks, how to joke, how to catch (and sometimes) hit a ball, how to let go of your inhibitions, how to be spontanous, how to be reliable, how to relax, how to trust, how to laugh at myself, how to respect others and so much more. Each of those things a different friend has taught me, and I am so thankful for that. I guess I am feeling really inspirational today or something. I haven't written in so long that I just feel like being inspirational to...myself I guess. Speaking of inspirational I got e-mailed this poem by Maya Angelou. Here goes:

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
Enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own even if she never wants
to or needs to...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
something perfect to wear if the employer or date of her
dreams wants to see her in an hour...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
a youth she's content to leave behind....
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
a past juicy enough that she's looking forward to
retelling it in her old age....
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .....
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black
lace bra...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
one friend who always makes her laugh... and one who
lets her cry...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone
else in her family...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems, and a
recipe for a meal that will make her guests feel honored...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
a feeling of control over her destiny...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to fall in love without losing herself..
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
HOW TO QUIT A JOB,
BREAK UP WITH A LOVER,
AND CONFRONT A FRIEND WITHOUT RUINING THE FRIENDSHIP...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
when to try harder... and WHEN TO WALK AWAY...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that she can't change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that her childhood may not have been perfect...but its
over...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she would and wouldn't do for love or more...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to live alone... even if she doesn't like it...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW..
whom she can trust,
whom she can't,
and why she shouldn't
take it personally...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
where to go... be it to her best friend's kitchen table...
or a charming inn in the woods...
when her soul needs soothing...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she can and can't accomplish in a day...a month...and a year...

Good one. Ok, well I need to go grab a bite to eat and go workout. I'll be back sooner than later this time. Promise. I have a lot that needs to be said in some form or another, so hopefully I can start writing more.
Cheers!
